Christine March 2

I printed the raffle license application off and I have some questions for the group:

  1. When will the tickets be sold, only on the 30th OR from what date to what date?

  2. To keep the licensing free within the class A license we cannot award more than $100 to an individual person. I have completed the application to reflect 1st prize to be up to $100 depending on amount of money collected, $50 for second price if enough money is collected, and $25 for third place...also only if enough money is collected.  Does everyone agree with this or have any alternative suggestions?

  3. What price will we charge per ticket? $2/ticket or 3 for $5 or any other thoughts???

what do you guys think? Whatever we decide must be less than $5/chance.With those three questions answered I can finish up what we are able to fill out. I will try to scan these in to email to Nicole if we can all reach a FB consensus to get this paperwork over to the Boys & Girls Club.

Nicole

Do you mean tickets to watch the tournament? I'm not sure if people would buy them or not. And everything in #2 sounds good. How would we get tickets to give away for that?

Christine

This is for the 50/50 raffle. We can buy a roll at Sam's club or online.

Oh

Nicole

I'm not sure if it should be sold before or just on that day

I was thinking just that day, but wanted to make sure everyone is on the same page. Grant said he needed this paperwork today so we could get it approved.

NicoleOkay, I woke up at 4 a.m. With the stomach flu so if the paperwork needs to be driven there I really cannot do it.

Christine

I can scan it and email it to you or direct to Grant since u aren't feeling well. I don't want to do anything until everyone weighs in though.

Okay sounds good

Anayah, Anthony, Adrian, Brendan, David ...can you guys weigh in on this? If not I will wait until our Thursday meeting, but this may jeopardize whether we can get county approval in time for the event.

Anayah

are you asking about entry tickets to the event? I think that should only be $1. And wait so we are giving away a cash prize, I thought we were trying to see if we could get stuff donated?

The raffle money is helping us to raise additional funds. We sell tickets for example for $2 ea. We sell 100 tickets and have $200. We can then draw a ticket and reward the holder of that number with 50% or $100. We now have $100 to apply towards our fundraising goal. These type of raffles are usually pretty popular because you can spend a few bucks for the opportunity to win quite a bit more than that. The 50/50 raffle has nothing to do with the $1 we were going to charge to enter the event

March 3 at 11:45am

Adrian

I think we keep it simple with 1 dollar a ticket.

March 3 at 11:50am

Anayah

Oh ok got you well if we're going to do a raffle that requires people to put in a certain amount for a ticket then I don't know that we should charge to get in as well. I feel like with the audience that we have (cheap college students) something needs to be free to attract them to it. We definitely don't want our event to seem like a money sucking event. Maybe if we have free entry that would draw a large crowd who would be willing to pay for the caricatures, food, raffle etc once they're having a good time and enjoying the atmosphere.

For the 50/50 raffle Adrian?

March 3 at 11:51am ·

Christine

Okay...at this point I am going to leave it where it is and not worry about it anymore.

March 3 at 11:53am

Anayah

I think 2$ is a good price night too much but could still get us to 200 rather quickly with a good turnout

March 3 at 11:54am

Brendan

keep it cheap and lets sell them starting when we get back from break?

March 3 at 1:42pm

Christine

As there is no consensus I think it is best to hold off. If anyone wants to look at the application just Google McLean County Raffle License.

March 3 at 2:43pm

Nicole

I'm fine with the $2

March 3 at 2:46pm

Brendan

2$ is fine
